This technique explained:

Background:
A travel brand wanted to market their tropical destination as the ideal vacation getaway. In order to increase brand exposure, the advertiser looked for a solution that would maintain scale and reach by targeting a pre-defined audience.

Solution:
The advertiser created an engaging consumer experience by using video ads and flash banner ads. These ads were then targeted to relevant consumers who searched for terms across the following travel categories: general travel, tropical vacations, and competitive destinations. To further expand reach, Magnetic targeted consumers based on specific interests, including entertainment, culture, and other lifestyle activities. This allowed the brand to show ads to those whose interests indicated they may be in the market for a travel destination in the near future.

Results:
Flash banner ads consistently achieved higher than a .1% CTR
Achieved above a .5% CTR for video ads, with peak performance topping 1.1% CTR’s
Outperformed client’s CPC goal by 13%
